Baker Street Books – The Bookstore at the Edge of the World
Baker Street Books is a unique gem in the cluttered world of book stores. Nestled in the historic district of Black Diamond about 30 miles from Seattle, the bookstore’s charm and brilliance impresses you as soon as you step in the door.
Built in 1884, the building is a restored tavern with bleached plank walls, high windows and the original bar. Owner Bob Charles is often found behind the front counter checking in books from an extensive inventory of more than 40,000 used books. He's a very hands-on owner with a sincere commitment to the customer's experience. Ask him about any book in the store and he's likely to know it's location.
Rows of bookshelves and tables carry an extensive range of books from the classics, modern-day novels and nonfiction. There’s a children’s corner. The store is a destination for those looking for hard-to-find books. As a used book store you’ll find terrific books at a great price. The extensive inventory will certainly impress you.
Patrons often reside in the cozy chairs in front of the fire place. It’s a comfortable place to read and enjoy a coffee. It’s easy to get lost in the turn-of-the-century charm. Walking the rows of books you forget what time it is. You find books you haven’t seen for years. The sun shines brilliantly through the high-pane windows, the shadows accentuating the rustic feel of the store.
Browsing for books is fun again!
